Weight Training

Exercise is defined as a bodily or mental exertion, esp. for the sake of training or improvement of health. Mental health is defined as the psychological well-being and satisfactory adjustment to society and to the ordinary demands of life for someone. In today's world a big question asked by many is does exercise, or weight training, have a mental effect on the mental state of a person to go along with the change in the physical state when a person begins to exercise.
There are two main emotions that are effected in the mental state of the mind and they are anxiety and depression. Anxiety is when a person is scared or nervous about an event that is coming up or that is occurring and that causes mental illness. Depression is when a person becomes in a mental state of being sad or down on themselves and removes themselves from society. Weight training affects both these mental illnesses in the same way. When someone begins to weight train that they actually have to start to move and do some type of physical activity that causes their blood to start to pump. When a person takes part in weight training the brain releases a chemical called an endorphin. Endorphins are chemicals that take away the sensation of pain and affects emotions. If someone has anxiety or is depressed the endorphins will take away that fear that is causing the anxiety and will take away the pain that is associated with depression.
Endorphins are not the only factor in effecting the mental state of a person. A person can get rid of anxiety by weight training because by lifting weights or doing an aerobic exercise your concentration is on what your doing at that moment and not what is going to happen therefore your anxiety levels go down. With depression, when you exercise your body is now moving and is not in a state of immobilization which makes you feel better about yourself.
