Press Release
“I cooked it,” with Ayala pleaded her guilty during the interview, she confirmed the whole procedure of committing the crime. She said that she brought the piece of finger bought by her husband from Mexico to the Wendy’s store, and placed the finger in the chili.
Wendy’s Inc. finally brought an end to the two-month long marathon running investigation on the “chili-finger” incident. The final sentence of this incident was that Ayala and her husband Placencia were found guilty. Ayala was sentenced to 9 years in prison while her husband was sentenced to 12 years in prison. While both of them must compensated $170,000 for wage loss of the San Jose Wendy’s workers. They also needed to compensate $21.8 million to the owners of the restaurant.
A press conference was held by Wendy’s Inc. at local time 10:30 am in Legg Mason Building. “Our brand has always represented freshness and quality.” Said the CEO of Wendy’s Inc. However, she would not be confident enough to say such things two month ago, when a lady claimed herself finding a human finger in their 99 cent chili bowl in San Jose California. The news soon spread out and caused a tsunami for the fast food franchise. They soon launched a two-month long investigation and was very cautious under the media until they spoke up this morning.
Wendy’s is the total victim in this incident but they still felt sorry about the flying rumors recently and decided to donate half of the next week’s sales revenue to the United Nations Children’s Fund. “Quality is our recipe. Fresh is what we do.” It is the philosophy the founder Dave Thomas lived by and it’s the philosophy on which Wendy’s is built. “Welcome to real, welcome to fresh and welcome to Wendy’s!” The way is arduous and long, but clearly, Wendy’s has begun its new journey.
