What are you going to say about the history of your company?

Amazon is a company in Seattle, Washington. Founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994, Amazon was

one of the first companies to sell goods on internet. The company started out as online book-

store but then diversified to movies, music, games,electronics, clothing,etc. In 2007, Amazon

returned its focus to the books industry with the release of their e-book reader, the Amazon

Kindle. In 2011, they release their first tablet the Kindle Fire. Recently, the company became a

retailer of digital content and cloud storage. Since its founding, Amazon has acquired many

websites and companies. Today, Amazon, now a Fortune 500 company,has a range of products

and services and is also the world’s largest online retailer.

What are you going to say about the organizational structure of your company?

Amazon’s organizational structure is comprised of CEO and founder Jeff Bezos and an 8 member

board of directors. The CEO oversees the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Chief Technology

Officer and the following 8 departments: Business Development, eCommerce Platform,

International Retail, North America Retail, Web Services, Digital Media, Legal & Secretary, and

Kindle. The CFO oversees the Real Estate and Control department. International Retail oversees

3 separate departments: China, Europe, and India. North America Retail oversees the following

5 departments: Seller Services, Operations, Toys, Sports & Home Improvement, Amazon

Publishing and Music & Video. The Web Services department oversees Amazon S3 and

Database Services. Other departments include Product Development & Studios, Europe

Operations, Global Advertising Sales, Computing Services, and Global Customer Fulfillment.

What are you going to say about the employment statistics of your company?

Amazon added more than 110,000 employees during the last year, topping 341,000 people as of

the end of 2016 thanks largely to a significant increase in the Seattle-based tech giant’s network

of fulfillment centers around the world.
