An individual is someone who stands out in the crowd and is not afraid to be themselves. They just have to show their true selves, and not worry about what other people are going to say about them. They need not be self-conscious but an avid leader and take charge. You have to show that you are not afraid of anything.
Being an individual means, that you can show the person that you really are and not someone you aren't. You can't look at someone's style and say, "hey I like that I think I should try it out." No, but someone who sees something that it could be and makes it come true and be what they want it to be.
To be an individual you have to have self-confidence and conduct yourself with pride, and not be shy and hide, unless that is the individual you are. But you need to be all out there and show the world what you are and that you aren't afraid of anything. You have to be willing to try new things and show what you can be. You don't have to pretend. You can just be you; there is not harm in that.
You are only the individual that you want to be. You should be able to stand out and still enjoy yourself and life. You should be able to just have fun. Do what comes the most natural to you because that makes you stand out more and have people notice you.
Another thing that makes you an individual is you have to be fun to be around. People need to enjoy your company. You need to be yourself, but not make the people around you feel inferior. People should feel comfortable around you and want to be with you. They should be able to have just as much fun as you are.
In a way an individual is someone who is a leader and wants to take charge and they don't mind saying things and they aren't afraid, because leaders do just that. They sent the standers for others, which is exactly what an individual does.
