What does Mission in Action mean for church members?
The bible looks forward with much anticipation to the scene in heaven where people from every tribe and tongue worship God. Before ascending to heaven, Jesus commanded his disciples to make disciples of all nations. Obeying Jesus’ Great Commission therefore will bring obedient believers from all nations together to worship God in heaven.
We can pray for, help mobilize and finance cross-cultural missionary activities. Each of us can also give personal encouragement, care and prayer support to those serving in cross-cultural missions, particularly missionaries which our church have adopted.
We can witness to migrant workers in our workplace or neighbourhood in words and actions. In so doing, we are playing a part in cross-cultural mission at our doorstep.
Our attitudes and lifestyle can draw people to praise our Father in heaven right now on earth. Living our Christian life consistently and showing unbelievers how to worship God and serve Him, how to put our trust in God even when things are not going our way; such actions will draw people to praise our Father in heaven.
Of course, we should plan to go on short-term mission trips organized by the church in 2017. God may also call you to share the gospel in another country. Pray for guidance, prepare yourself and undergo appropriate training for such demanding service.
So be alert and ever ready. Make the most of every opportunity. People in this country, and in every nation, need to hear the message of salvation in Jesus.
