What do you think of when someone asks you what you think America is? Most people would probably think of the American flag or the United States having 50 states, just basic things. A couple things that come to my mind is the American flag, which symbolizes patriotism of this country; the Biltmore House, which is a great tour ground; the President, who is in charge of everything in the United States; and I would also think of freedom, which lots of countries think of as a good thing in America and that's why immigrants come to America. All these items come to my attention if someone asked me what I thought symbolizes or represents America today.
The first object that comes to my mind when someone mentions the word America is the American flag. The American flag resembles patriotism of the United States of America. For more than 200 years, the American flag has been the symbol of our nation's strength and unity. The flag has been a source of pride and inspiration for millions of citizens. It has also been a prominent icon in our national history. It has thirteen stripes which represent the thirteen colonies and 50 stars which represent 50 states, each star represents one state. The flag also has the colors red, white, and blue. Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor, White symbolizes Purity and Innocence, and Blue Symbolizes Vigilance and Justice. We say our pledge of allegiance to our American flag and we also sing the Star Spangled Banner, which is our country's national anthem.
The next thing I think of as America is the Biltmore House. The Biltmore House is a remarkable place to tour and it's an incredible place to take a vacation with your family or friends. It has a natural beauty of the mountains, the house itself, and gardens that inspire anyone who tours the area. It has amazing scenery in which George Washington Vanderbilt II built this enormous house on. Visitors are astounded by the rooms, the beautiful art-work placed amongst the house, and everything inside and outside the house amazes anyone who visits. The Biltmore House is major tourist attraction in western North Carolina with about a million visitors each year. I would consider anyone who comes to America or to North Carolina to tour or stay at the Biltmore House or Biltmore Estate.
The third thing that comes to my mind when someone mentions America or asks what I think America is, is the President. The President runs this country. The President is Chief executive of the Federal government and Commander in Chief of the armed forces. As Chief executive he can enforce laws, treaties, and court rulings; develop federal policies; prepare the national budget; and appoint federal officials. He can also approve or veto any acts the Congress makes and grant pardons. As Commander in Chief, he can send troops in to combat and can decide whether the troops can use weapons or not. The President has a very hard job. Most people probably want to run or be in charge of a country
