What Does Justice Mean to Me?

What justice means to me? In order to answer this question I have to figure out when in my life I did I first have to use this word. I had a normal up bringing. Two parents both working we had the house basic needs growing up. They people down the street from us were labeled as "they bad family", the father drank to much, abused the family. I remember the police coming to the house many times a least five times a month, taking the father away,(later it was said that the police just dropped him a couple miles away) then seeing him maybe a couple hours later. The mother always looked confused and very unhappy, children kept to them selves. Did the mother understand what justice was after her so called husband came home to say he was sorry? What about the children? Of course family and friends play the blame game thinking something wrong with her, telling her she should leave but you can stay at my house. She may not leave because of fear he will find her just to keep the peace or no money.

This happen in the late 70's so you could possible see the police not giving her much help during this time police looked at this as a private matter. In their training the police were taught to either defuse the situation or attempt to mediate. "Victims were left feeling confused and at fault. Having turned to the police for help, they were left blaming themselves for even bothering to call. Battered women turned to police with one set of expectations but the police responded with another, influenced by training and public expectations" (Sadusky, 1994). Where is the Justice?

Basically judges are responsible for upholding the law. But the justice part is that the judges understand the all of the factors relevant to the case. If it is a high profile case is justice gone out the door. We will look at Paris Hilton you know ("that's hot girl") here case had the judge in an uproar, attorneys thinking that their client was treated like a common criminal wanted equal treatment for celebrities. I did not know they have their on jail cells. And the sheriffs department who let their feelings gets in the way shifting Ms Hilton in her house arrest. Then they had to defend the office in a big public apology's the next time you are watch the news about the war and its is interrupted by seeing breaking news about some celebrity breaking the law . You can think about the women being abused her husband.

I am going to pull the race card. Now, African American males are cultural self rather than individual self for achievement. Black males are
