What is K-12? Why we need to add another 2 years of learning if we can live a life without adding it? How will it help us?
First, what is K-12? According to the information given by the government, “The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.”
But how it will help us to achieve the goal towards national development? Simple, we just add 2 years to our basic education that will provide our people to have a pleasant job. No more bystanders, more opportunities for the common people. OFW’s who want to continue their education abroad can’t get what they want because foreign countries don’t recognize 10 years of basic education. So by adding 2 years, OFW’s will now continue their education in whatever country they are without starting from basic education again. (Basically, they are one of the most beneficiary of K-12. Next to the poor who can’t afford to go to college.) Adding 2 years to our basic education will help us compete with other foreigners and they will not underestimate our talents and capabilities. Economy will rise, poverty will lessen. But the main goal of this is to make people more open of what is happening to their surroundings. To their community. It will help them to open their mind and ask why. Why is this why is that? Why do we vote people who are not deserving in that position? Or why we are not seeing any much more development than other countries? K-12 will help us think rationally, making better decisions because of the people will be aware of what’s happening now.
