What would the United States be like if Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did not exist?
The United States is a multi cultural country with equal rights for all races whites, blacks, hispanics and asians. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a very important role in this. He stood up for equal rights for every race and color in this country. Dr. King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a civil rights leader who fought for his race. He also helped blacks to vote without him they would not be able to vote. He did not like segregation and was against it till there was desegregation. Dr. King led marches and spoke in front of big crowds around the United States. In 1963 in Washington D.C Dr. King gave his most known speech “I Have a Dream” which is still used to remember him and teach others. In 1964 he received the Nobel Peace Prize and he was one of the youngest to receive that award. Martin Luther King Jr. believed in non violent protesting which still happens today thanks to him. If not for those beliefs just imagine how the protests would be like. He was also a Baptist minister who gave sermons and good words to church members which has helped ministers and preachers still today. His birthday is a U.S national holiday. Dr. King was a great man because he helped black and white people. His dream came true because white and black people go to the same schools, ride on the same buses and are friends. We should not look at the color of people’s skin but how they are inside. Thanks Dr. King you taught me that!
