When Christmas comes to town
I used to believe that only when it snows can I realize the coming of winter. By a naïve consideration, I had always been looking forward to the time when the first snow came in December. Day after day, the snow just didn’t come and finally the calendar turned a page to replace the old one. I was extremely disappointed that I couldn’t give a warm welcome to the new year with the warmth of snow.
As the past of time and the turning of the page, years have passed. The leaves fell again and the temperature dropped. It finally came winter of the year. Recalling the childish thoughts, I eventually realize when that remarkable day is. It is the day when winter truly comes, the day when Christmas comes to town.
Tired of the legend in the end of November, the whole town made an entire change on the atmosphere. By the sidewalk there were windows decorated in red and green. I could feel the charm of a certain period of time. In addition, the air was pervaded with the smell of – Christmas!
With the familiar melodies of Christmas songs, children were looking forward to the coming of Santa Claus. It is him who would send gifts to children and put them into their socks. As the tales say that he often comes into the house through the chimney. Thus, they would put up a Christmas tree right in front of it and hang a big stocking so that Santa would be able to put candy canes right into it. Besides, some children would place their stockings at bedside. But this does not matter much. It is just a kind of tradition.
Christmas also brings families together. They would put up and decorate the Christmas trees together and have a warm dinner because 6 days later they would have a welcome to the new year. It is such a romantic feeling to greet Christmas in December together with the gentle snow.
Putting up a Christmas tree, with friends who come around. There’s so much fun when Christmas comes to town.
