Why Is There No Light Bulb?

As we all know, a common ice-box in the kitchen is divided into two sections: the freezer, either at the top or bottom, and the refrigerator chamber, which maintains a temperature a few degrees above 0ÑžXC. Nearly every refrigerator chamber has a light bulb. However, we hardly ever find a light bulb in the freezer. So, what factor allows the installation of a light source in a refrigerator but not in a freezer?
Whether to install a light bulb in the freezer is dependent on its cost and its benefit.
The cost to installing a light bulb in the freezer is the least amount of money you should pay to attain a light bulb in the freezer. First of all, the light bulb has to be designed to work at the maximum efficiency possible in a -18ÑžXC environment or more. Secondly, it is easy to frost in the freezer, which means the surface material of light bulb would have to be specially designed to prevent it from gathering liquid particles. Otherwise, the life span of the light bulb will be shortened greatly. After considering these two requirements, the cost of the light bulb in the freezer seems enormous.
Now, how about the benefit? The benefit is the largest amount of money customers are willing to pay for the use of the light bulb . For starters, since the purpose of the freezer is to keep and store food at low temperature in a long period of time, it is unlikely for the contents of the freezer to be accessed frequently. Therefore the light bulb in the freezer wonÐŽ¦t be as necessary as the one in the refrigerator. Secondly, the contents in the refrigerator chamber are daily food and drinks. For example, some people like to go to the kitchen to get a can of cola during the night without turning on the light.
