MBA, A Prominent Power for My Future
I received my bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and my master's degree in computer engineering in 1984 and 2000, respectively. 20 year working experiences have been made me as a respected professional in my current working area. However, my ambition for my professional carrier should not just stop here. In today's fast-changing environment, I want to face more challenges and widen my professional carrier. I want to be successful in contribution to management level strategic decision making in both domestic and international business environments. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) will equipment me with more power to reach this goal.
Here is the primary reason for why I want to pursue the MBA. MBA will boost my carrier and bring additional job opportunities. MBA program will make me much better positioned on transitioning to a next higher level of responsibilities. According to Christina Le Beau (2007) in an article regarding why people want an MBA, "Ð'...There's strong evidence that earning an executive MBA can boost your career. Last year, 43% of students enrolled in executive MBA programs received promotions, up from 34% in 2004" (p.17). Dan Allen (2006) also describes the corporate recruiting trend wherein U.S. His report showed that corporate recruiters are seeking a variety of innovative methods, such as annually MBA conference, an annual student-run event, to bring more qualified MBA people to do more strategic jobs in some of the nation's largest companies. Some companies often use the MBA to screen top candidates for their best and most demanding management positions.
Secondly, MBA can assist me to sharpen my managerial skills and gain new management tools. MBA program is built on work experience foundation by providing new skills and knowledge. This program provides at least 10 business classes which will give me a broad as well as fundamental exposure to the business world such as problem solving and real-world case study. Furthermore, the MBA classes will prepare me for business decision-making role in a wide range of problems or issues in variety business areas. The MBA program will provide me a fast track to career advancement.
In addition, MBA can bring me more international business opportunities. An economic growing trend is very impressive in some developing countries such as China and India. Companies in those regions are looking for qualified individuals with technical degree and MBA background as they believe that people who grasped the skills in the both disciplines will lead the company more wisely in today's fiercely competitive business world.
Finally, earning an MBA will offer attractive reward in higher salary. An article appeared in The Times (2007) regarding MBA graduate's salary and the Recruitment and Salary Trends Report 2007 published by the TopMBA.com showed that the typical graduate with four years' experience earned $72,129 (Pounds 34,950). After completed the MBA program, an average of salary will be $99,154, which is 37% increase.
As has been said, MBA study is a proven effective path to gain my career advancement.
