  1. To manufacture the smartphone which is as good as the quality demanded by the customers around the world
  2. With the purpose of ensuring the company product the right amount of good which don’t excess or less the demand of market
  3. To ensure there are enough of raw material to produce the good and services
  4. To continuously improve the existing product and service in term of operating system (OS), camera resolution, app features and the battery life.
  5. To calculate an estimated manufacturing fund that could produce the smartphone which is as good as the market demanded
  6. In the purpose of monitoring and keep maintenance of the plant and machinery within the factory.

  1. The failure of Nokia Operating System
  • Customer
  • Symbian and Meego is not user friendly as Ios and android.
  • A lot of bug and error found on their operating system, not stabilize
  • The app is not as many as other operating system that provided
  • Progammer
  • Symbian, Meego can’t even allow other user to develop app free and they charge so expensive as
  • Window using C++, which are more difficult to make app
  • Solution
  • Adopt some concept of other operating system such as android and IOS as well as modify it become our own unique and special OS which will bring a lot of convenience
  1. Non-Consistency Manufacture factory
  • Nokia had changed factory from INDIA to China to Vietnam
  • India because of tax issues
  • They required to rehire some professional to managing the factory
  • Switch the plant and machinery to other country or even buy a brand new one
  • incurred a lot expenses
  • Solution
  • Focus on one country to manufacture their product
  • They should really focus on the manufacturing in China because china have a better working environment, more skilled labor, lesser wages
  1. Manufacturing problems
  • Lack of Supply
  • Although Nokia smartphone Lumia 521 has sold out easily in their website or other online purchase app, but there still a lot of customer haven buy the smartphone yet because “ the company had fail to produce enough phones for their cilents”.
  • One of the reason that Nokia can’t produce enough product as the demand of market is they less outsourcing the raw material of smartphone start from the year of 2010 caused lack of adequate supplies of some components.
  • Production Error
  • Besides that, there are a manufacturing problem of Nokia N8 smartphone which will turn off itself off unexpectedly because of the problem of main circuit board.
  • Solution
  • Firstly, the production management should define the main causes of the problems clearly and solve the issues by giving a repair service who facing this issues without any charges
  • Next time, they also should check the product effectiveness and function carefully before push the product to the market
  • Nokia should have a good relationship with the distributor or supplier and offer a better benefit of revenue for them if they able to supply sufficient of component to us
  1. Complexity of organization structure
  • Overload of management team caused them is hardly to communicate and hardly to focus on the critical issues of the operation problem
  • There are also separation unit of top management level which slow down the process of producing the smartphone or other goods  because it required a lot of permission from different layer of top management
  • There are a group of Nokia expert team separated into production department and R&D department, the R&D department wasted a lot time and expenses to invent a unique product for Nokia but they didn’t perform greatly.

  • They should re-organize the structure of the management
  • Give a clear and set a target for every department to be archive
  1. Lose on smartphone trend  
  • Nokia was started to slow on their innovation of smartphone because they keep focus on manufacturing on the mobile phone and cell phone
  • When they release the new Meegoo powered smartphone in 2011, it was way too far to compete with android and Ios
  • They are too late to realize the treat from Apple and Samsung and become laggard in smartphone market
  • Solution
  • Since Nokia is significantly lose on the Smartphone trend, we should really help Nokia to pull it back from the smartphone market
  • We invent a brand new phone called N-block (Nokia Block) with a unique interface and design to attract the customers
  • N-block is an open-source modular smartphone that allow user to change or upgrade their components freely such as graphic card, power supply, screen and sound card.
  • Most importantly, the price of the N-Block is surprisingly cheap because it just require a main board and start to creating own smartphone
