Wikis are a very resourceful tool to have while doing a project, writing a essay, or

even updating a website. A wiki provides an easy and efficient way to use a database. The

three representations that appear on each wiki page make it user friendly without having

to learn a website's layout. Wikis also allow for rapid changes in text, making it easier

to be proof read. Wikis make it easier on the researcher by giving other valuable links

to a topic on the website.

I would definitely use wikis for a research paper. By easily typing in a topic

in the search box, wikis allow for multiple searches among many other wikis.

At times, I type too fast and do not pay attention to my mistakes. By using a wiki,

the problem is solved and the correct changes are made. Wikis can also be

managed alone. If I start a paper today, I can come back in two days and

the wiki will have kept the quality of my paper in good condition. If I delete

a section of the paper, the wiki will keep the past and edited versions stored

so I can look back at the revised versions.

I believe that wikis are better used in a private business rather

than in a term paper. My family owns their own business and by using

wikis all of their documents can be kept on file to be looked up

very quickly. For example, the computer technician can upload all

of the information into a collaborative system and change the

documents on a daily basis. This would be a excellent tool for

business owners who have massive amounts of paper work to do

or have that have business numbers changing on a daily basis.

Also, the business could use a wiki to keep track of how many hits

the company's website gets each hour, day, or week.

The only problem with wiki, is that it allows anyone to edit

the contents of the page or pages.
