Everyone loves to win because come on, who likes to lose? Winning makes you feel more superior over others and not only do you feel better but you also gain more opportunities for yourself. Winning can change everything for an individual or group like if you were to win the lottery, you would be a millionaire in no time and more opportunities than others for an easier life and if a team won a sports event, they would become famous and well-known no matter how loved or hated they were and no matter how skilled they were. The desire to win could also change a person’s mind and personality as they would do anything to win and would stop at nothing to achieve what they want. Winning can be a life-changing event and is usually related to money.
Winning can change everything for a person or a group. It could make them famous and rich, change their lifestyle and also even changed their own image and how others see them. A good example of this would be the 1965-66 Western Texas Miners basketball group who were the only basketball team that had an all Black starting lineup at that time in the SEC, the ACC or the Southwest Conference. At their first game, people discriminated and dissed the team because the audience were all White and they didn’t believe that minorities could win not because they weren’t good enough but because apparently they weren’t smart enough; they didn’t have the brains to play well. But as they continued on a streak of winning all the games up till the game against Seattle because one of their teammates were abused and it shook them as a team and they lost their confidence and began to go against each other but luckily they had their coach, Don Haskins, to pull them together and encourage them to go on as a team. They got to the finals and won the game against the best high school basketball team at that time, Kentucky’s Wildcats. After the championships, the team faced many issues because of their colour although it did eventually lead to other teams putting more minorities in their teams. This significant team showed people that it did not matter what race people were, everyone was capable of becoming great at something if they practised and had enough faith. Winning can change how you are treated and how others see you and it could also make an impact on the future. The effect of winning on an individual or group is an important idea on how winning can change everything.
