JFK Assassination vs. September 11th
As we look back on history we can see how so many things have changed for the better, and even for the worse. We will remember how Jackie Robinson became the first African American to play baseball in the Major Leagues. We will remember how we landed on the moon in 1969. We will even remember the day the Berlin wall fell. However, I'm pretty sure that all of us remember the day that the World Trade Centers were hit, and I'm sure that a majority of our parents and grandparents remember when JFK was assassinated. There are many things that make both of these events very similar, and yet so different. That is why in the following paragraphs I will explain these similarities and differences.
It was a nice November day in Texas when President Kennedy was supposed to come to town. The cheers and cries escalated as the President came closer and closer. People were out in the thousands to see Kennedy, as the 1961 Lincoln Continental peered over the corner the streets erupted with applause. Little did they know that all of them were about to be witness to a ghastly tragedy. The president waved to all of the spectators and right then and there a John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated. There was a bomb of blood and the vehicle violently swerved and disappeared under an overpass. At that time the world entered commotion much like the shock after we heard the news of September 11th. The president of the United States had been shot. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Texas. Now, there are many theories and ideas to who killed JFK. The first suspect was Lee Harvey Oswald. He was arrested and charged with the assassination of JFK the very same day as the shooting. I myself do not think Oswald did it alone. There is no way someone can get of three shots in a high-powered rifle in 6 seconds let alone be accurate with all of the shots. So I think that there was more then one shooter.
Fast-forward about thirty-eight years to 2001. September 11, 2001 had started out to be just another day in our life until it happened. At about 8:45 a.m. the first plane struck the first tower. People were in utter shock as they looked at the tower as smoked billowed out. Then as if the first time wasn't enough, the second tower was hit with another plane. In the hours to follow there would be much more terror. We would later find out that a plane had hit the pentagon and another plane had gone down near Pittsburgh. The plane that went down near Pittsburgh was supposed to hit the White House. Again the world was in utter shock. Not one, not two, not three, but four planes had been hijacked and then used to destroy and demoralize the U.S. This was one thing that wasn't a smart choice on the high-jackers parts. All Americans would now come together for a good purpose. To find whoever did this and then to make them suffer the way we suffered that day. Unfortunately we still haven't found him, but that hasn't stopped any of our troops. Osama Bin Laden may be free for now but I know our troops won't stop searching until he is found.
There are pretty many similarities between the assassination of JFK and the tragedy of September 11th. The first similarity is the role that the media played in showing both of these tragedies. Television was the biggest part. Networks would show the image of the two towers burning almost non-stop. I can't say from experience but I've heard that they did the same thing with the JFK assassination. This helped form the opinions of the Americans who would have to watch this every day. Another similarity between the two is the amount of people that both of them affected. Everyone was a big supporter of JFK, even Texas was starting to warm up to him. After he was shot people were devastated. Some people didn't go to work; some kids didn't even go to school that is how bad it was. My gram told me that she started to cry because
