A Difference In Time
Young Emmit had no clue of what he was getting his self in to and had no intentions of stirring up conflict. Even though the purpose of the laws back then were to separate each race, and consider them as equal, it was still unfair to judge one only by there ethnicity. I think that both races should have been given the opportunity to interact with each other. Interaction among races creates diversity which is essential in life. The Jim Crow Laws did not help the situation at all by separating the races, instead they should have been stressing for the races to mix together. By combining different cultures and races it pushes an effort to understand one another and hopefully make a bond between the races. If only being different would have been looked upon to be good, instead of causing chaos between both races, our nation would definitely be a more hospitable place.
Today America still faces race barriers. People of today's society have over looked race in some cases, but racial discrimination still exists. I believe every culture has their own argument as to how their culture has been disrespected and can assure you that the stereotype given is nothing more than fiction. I am not totally proud of the nation that I reside in today, but I am very grateful that the children that I plan to have won’t have to go through the suffering that the individuals in previous history have encountered. Love, friendship, and kindness are not hard to illustrate and can be shared with everyone. As time advances, hopefully we as a people can share more than the Earth we live on, and collaborate to become something our entire society will be proud of.
Sometimes it takes major situations to get an important point across, such as Emmit Till’s mark in history. But why sit and wait for it to happen when you can step up and prevent it.
