This assignment will be a paper on the name selected for our consulting firm, a description of the consulting firm created, a description of the types of problems and issues the consulting will address, a description of the services our consulting firm will be offering, and a statement explaining why our consulting firm is well suited to the skills of the team members.
Name and Description of Consulting Firm
It has been known that there is a nursing shortage in the United States, with reports that this shortage will reach crisis proportions by 2015 when there will be a 20-percent shortage of available nurses (HRSA, 2002). By 2020, it is estimated the shortage will increase to 29-percent. It is because of these alarming statistics that we have decided to create a consulting firm on nursing recruitment and retention.
The name of our consulting firm is ABC & K Nursing Solutions, Inc. The consulting firm was created by four nurses--all with strong nursing leadership backgrounds. ABC & K Nursing Solutions, Inc. is an Arizona-based, full-service nurse recruitment and retention consulting firm dedicated to quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively meeting permanent nurse staffing and retention needs of health care organizations. ABC & K Nursing Solutions, Inc. is focused on building relationships and on customer service.
We will institute an effective recruitment program to place trained nurses, both US and foreign, in health care organizations on a permanent basis. This program will alleviate professional nurse vacancies, assuring the highest level of patient safety, reducing liability, and budget concerns. ABC & K also has an excellent program to assist and educate nurse managers in retention of valuable nurses. ABC & K Nursing Solutions, Inc. also has a variety of other services which can be utilized by nurse managers to improve staffing, increase retention rates, reduce turnover rates, reduce costs of nurse recruitment, improve customer service, reduce overtime costs, and enhance staff morale and job satisfaction.
Description of Types of Problems and Issues
The nursing shortage is well documented with more than 126,000 nursing position openings, at present. Our service is to assist health care organizations with assessing their nursing and retention processes. Recruitment and retention talent management interviews are an invaluable tool in measuring how candidates, new hires, and current employees perceive the recruitment process and the company's organizational culture. These interviews can pinpoint potential issues in the nursing recruitment process, management practice, scheduling, compensation, and benefits. One way we can identify any issues is to assess the potential candidate's view of navigating the company's web site and the ease of the online application process.
We will work with companies that have issues with retention due to employee recognition. Nurses want to feel valued, respected and recognized. Sometimes the smallest gestures have the most impact on how nurses feel about their work experience and employers.
Since the aftermath of the events of September 11th and the recent downturn in the economy, there has been an increased interest in the nursing profession among people who already have a college degree and career, but want to switch to nursing as a second career. Our consulting firm will provide assistance to individuals interested in determining which nursing
