This article was written by two Maryland University professors, both of whom are famous in their study fields. The purpose of this article is illustrated the impact of goal setting on level of performance and interest on work.The findingswhich based on the results of 6 experiments reveal that performance goals strongly influence the level of performance and the degree of interest on task, specific hard goals could contributed to higher level of performance and task interest. 2 pilot studies and 4 main experiments involved different people recruited from college in the USA, were performed by setting different goals and time from 2minutes to 2 hours. The results demonstrate the idea that performance goals could influence performance and interest on different work (Locke, & Bryan, 1967). The authors through 6 different experiments came to the conclusion. Although, participants of the test are students not real employees and the longest trial hour is one hour which compare to repetitive works is relative short,this research could support the concept that goal setting could affect performance, specific goals could bring positive impact on employee’s performance.
