At The Gym

The norm of America goes to the gym for their health. But then, there are the others. You know, the "Hi! Look how hot I am!" women. There are two regulars at my gym that wear a plethora of bracelets and enough makeup to make Tammy Faye Bakker look absolutely granola. They get on the stair climbers in their Juicy Couture, not producing a bead of sweat or any movement in their not-so-natural chests. It's very important to me to exercise. My father is a Major in the Marine Corps and a runner, my mother is also an avid exercise enthusiast and stresses healthy eating for our family since her mother is a nurse. As the two women left, they stepped to the side, and proceeded to light up their Virginia Slims. I was completely dismayed by their behavior. But the next day I went to exercise and there was a woman that needed a walker to get from her small red car with her husband gently guiding her and it may have taken ten minutes for her to get from her car into the gym. Then another ten minutes for her to be helped into the swimming pool, but she did it with such class and dignity. You could tell that these people had many years together. You could see the love and devotion this couple had for each other. This was a lifetime commitment, not the Miss Go to Be Seen USA Pageant. I should hope to be so fortunate.
