History

In the very early years of Audi, over a century ago, August Horch, driven by high standards and passion, designed "good, strong vehicles for discerning tastes". And this has stayed the same right up to the present day: the name Audi stands for high-quality vehicles with advanced technology and progressive design Ð'- summed up in the company slogan: "Vorsprung durch Technik".

The Audi logo - the 'Four Rings' Ð'- is the emblem of one of the oldest car manufacturers in Germany. It symbolizes the merger completed in 1932 of four independent vehicle manufacturers: Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. Together with the brand NSU, which was incorporated in 1969, they are the forefathers of today's AUDI AG.

Personnel

AUDI AG has production operations in Great Britain in the form of the subsidiary Cosworth Technology Ltd, with almost 750 employees. Cosworth was founded in 1958 and concentrated initially on the development and production of racing engines and transmissions. After changing hands several times, Cosworth was sold to AUDI AG in 1998 by the Vickers Group. Cosworth Technology has three locations in Great Britain and one in the USA.

The company's headquarters are in Northampton. Worcester and Welling borough, Audi is a plc, which stands for a public limited company, which means that they have limited liability. Around the world in 1998 Audi recorded 25 to 30 thousand workers now because of the use of hi Tec computers the figure has dropped to 20 thousand around the world. Audi belongs to the service industry, which provides a facility or a service. The service industry belongs to the category of the tertiary industry, which is the chief source of employment in Great Britain.

Finance

In 2000, Audi recorded a sales total of DM 39 billion and sold almost 920,000 vehicles. This figure includes around 266,000 vehicles of other Volkswagen Group brands sold by the Italian importer AUTOGERMA S.p.A., which was consolidated within Audi for the first time. Then we come to the word stakeholder meaning one who has a share or an interest as in an enterprise.

Marketing

Dr. Michael Trautmann (37) is joining AUDI AG with effect from July 1, 2002 to head the company's Central Marketing department. He will report directly to the Member of the Board for Sales and Marketing, Dr. Georg Flandorfer (55).
