BEGIN ASSIGNMENT

Imagine you have a meeting with the CEO and other high ranking officers of a company that invests in distance learning start-ups. Your objective is to obtain a loan for a distance learning company that you would like to start. Fortunately, you have a mentor to whom you can turn for help.

Using a business-like tone and format, compose a 2-3 page letter (Word Document) that would be suitable to send as an email to this mentor. Address the following so that your mentor can be of assistance to you:

1.) Analyze the audience (be creative and imagine who the CEO and other officers are).

This means answering the questions: What would be important to this type of audience? What would they be most interested in learning from you? Or, per page 5 in the Munter book, answering the questions: Who are they? What do they know and expect? What do they feel?

2.) State the objectives for your presentation.

This is addressed on p. 14 of the Munter book and includes answering "As a result of my presentation the audience will..." and "identifying exactly what you want your audience to do, say or know as a result of your talk." (p. 14)

3.) List topics that will be covered in the presentation

4.) Select a medium for your presentation to the CEO and explain why you chose it.

5.) Determine the image you wish to portray at this presentation and provide details on how you will project this image and what could help you do this.

How do you want to come across to the CEO and high ranking officers? What image do you think will impress them, and how specifically can you project this image? (Hint: what kind of clothes, vocabulary, speaking style, and delivery tools will help you project this image?) END ASSIGNMENT

HERE IS THE LETTER I WROTE AND SUBMITTED.

Dear Mr. Neron:

I am writing to you to inform you that I am in the early stages of planning a distance learning company, which I would like to open in a couple of years. I will be meeting with the CEO and other high ranking officers of a company that invest in distance learning start-ups in a few weeks. As my mentor for previous accomplishments, I am seeking your guidance in hopes that I may obtain a loan from this company for my future establishment.

The CEO and the other high ranking officers of this company have comprehensive knowledge and are positive about the distance learning market. The audience's knowledge is expected due to a number of previous successful distance learning companies they have invested in. They feel that because of the demand of distance learning graduates are on the rise, they will fully benefit from previous and future companies. That makes distance learning their number one top investments.

The objectives for my presentation are:

--To present a business plan that is grounded in the distance learning market.

--To sell my ideas to the audience.

--To show my full commitment and dedication of the proposed company and its market.

--To obtain the loan needed for my proposed distant learning company.

The topics that will be covered in the presentation are as followed:

--Distance learning is on the rise.

--Distinctive comparison of successful distant education companies from the unsuccessful.

--Existing voids in the market that will be filled by my company.

--Great investment.

Power Point will be the medium for the presentation to the CEO and other high ranking officers of the company. I chose this medium because Power Point is powerful, easy-to-use presentation software that is part of the Microsoft Office suite of products. You can use Power Point to create presentations for a wide variety of audiences and for a wide variety of purposes. PowerPoint tenders a number of advantages over traditional methods for presentations. Some advantages include the following:

--Easy to edit

--Professional appearance

--Can
