Capital Punishment
Over the decades capitol punishment has eventually been abolished. Now the only countries where capitol punishment is still imposed are certain states in America and countries in the Far East. In the United Kingdom for example the death penalty was abolished in 1965. There are numerous opinions on capitol punishment. The reasons for and against capitol punishment provide a great debate.
The family of the victim of a crime are owed some kind of revenge. The friends and family are the ones who are suffering because their loved one has been a victim of a crime such as a rape or killed and they thoughts of them are why should they be allowed to live while the victim remains dead or deeply traumatised by someone else's actions.
Another reason that some people believe capitol punishment is necessary because they feel that society needs to protect itself from these sorts of people and that because the majority of people sentenced to death have had several offences behind them and that some peoples opinion is that the death penalty to die will stop others from committing murder.
Many people in society also believe that offenders should be sentenced to death as of the cost of keeping a prisoner in jail. The cost of keeping a prisoner in jail and all there needs comes from the taxpayers money and many taxpayers would rather see there money go to other worthy causes and the fact that it is easier to execute a offender or a serious criminal is cheaper and uses up far less an amount of the tax payers money.
A strong point for capitol punishment is that there is always a chance that a person who offended, will more than likely do it again. If he/she is released from prison there is a sixty percent that they will re-offend, but if the person is executed then there obviously, no chance that they can re-offend.
A common public opinion is that the death penalty is a real life sentence; today a life sentence in prison terms is only twenty-five years. With good behaviour they can be released back into society in fifteen years and meets the family of the person they murdered or severely traumatised.
Reasons against capital punishment are that if a person is executed when they are innocent, you cannot apologise
