ARLINGTON- The city of Arlington is holding its semiannual fall clean up day Saturday October 27th from 9a.m to 4p.m. This event encourages Arlington residents to clean up around their homes and take advantage of the drop off sites located around Arlington to dispose of regular trash and bulky trash.
The sites will be located at the Arlington landfill, six flags hurricane harbor and at Sam Houston high school. Residents will be able to dispose of bulky items that regular trash trucks won't take or charge a fee for disposal. These items include tree limbs, tires, appliances, brush, fencing and other items. House hold hazardous chemicals will not be accepted. These items include paints, pesticides, motor oils.
Items can be dropped off free of charge. Those dropping off items must show proof of residency either by a valid license or by showing a current bill with an Arlington address.
"The citizen's response to the events is great. Our citizens have grown used to the event and look forward to it every year," Lorrie Anderle, recycling coordinator for the city of Arlington said.
"With other cities you can have bulky items left out on the curb for weeks before the city will pick it up or they will charge a fee for disposing of it but this event give residents a chance to get rid of it and forget it," Lorrie Anderle said.
The items collected are sorted through and the items are recycled.
