CNA’s Need Writing Skills Too!
There are many reasons on why I am writing my essay on why CNA need writing skills. CNA is a certified nursing assistant that helps take care of patients or clients. I have been working at a nursing home for over two years now. When I first started working there, I realized that no matter what profession you are in you will need to have excellent writing skills. Writing skills are an important part of communication. There are many times that I have reports to my supervisors to inform her about care that I have did for the residents. Having good writing helps me communicate better with my supervisor and this will show your that my messages are organized and have great clarity. When I am writing my reports, I make sure that double check my work and make sure that it doesn’t contain any grammar errors. “All written communications should therefore be re-read before sending to print, or hitting the send button in the case of emails, as it is likely that there will be errors. Do not assume that spelling and grammar checkers will identify all mistakes as many incorrect words can indeed be spelt correctly (for example, when “their” is used instead of “there” or “principle” instead of “principal”) or entire words may be missing. If at all possible, take a break before re-reading and checking your writing, as you are more likely to notice problems when you read it fresh.” (Skills You Need)
Another important skill being a CNA is communication skills. There are many times when I must communicate with someone at my workplace. I must communicate effectively with my patients, as well as with the client’s family members, doctors, nurses, and other staff members. Clear and concise written communication is required when reporting and documenting a client’s wellbeing. Speaking clear to residents will help them clear their thoughts. “Your effective communication skills should include active listening, documenting and responding to the needs of the residents especially when they have something to convey. Active listening means listening to the residents without getting yourself distracted by your personal thoughts, acknowledging them as human beings worthy of your attention. Observing is also a type of skill wherein you immediately know the unexpressed needs of the residents through their gestures or physical condition. “(CnaTrainingClass)
