I work in a school district and the school which I work at has different ways of communicating with the other schools. The school has to be able to communicate with each and every person working there, so they use different methods of communication for this purpose.
Is the administrative staff (principal, librarian, skills specialist, test coordinator, technology coordinator, PE coach, and assistant principal); all these people communicate using Blackberries. The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services. Developed by the Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM), it delivers information over the wireless data networks of mobile phone service companies (Wikipedia, 2007).
The technology cordinator in our school uses a Nextel 2-way, this is so she can communicate with other technology technicians in the district whenever necessary. They carry these Nextels wherever they go in the school so they can communicate with each other when they need help in fixing some computer problems. Nextel was the first company to implement a nationwide push-to-talk system similar to a walkie-talkie, called "Direct Connect". Unlike other cellular providers' networks, NEXTEL's network operated in the Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) band, and Nextel was one of the first providers in the United States to offer a national digital cellular coverage footprint. The company was the first in the US to implement a GPS system. Nextel was also an industry leader in Customer Lifecycle Management. They invested in an analytics capability which allowed them to surpass their competitors in treating customers differently, based on relative value and projected loyalty.
