Communication
Communication is an important aspect when trying to achieve success in the business world. A person's communication can reflect their knowledge. It is essential for good communication for a person to achieve his or her goals. There are different types and different ways to communicate. Communication can come in verbal and nonverbal ways to project your self. Verbal communication is either spoken orally or it is written.
You first must decide what you are communicating about. Take your audience in consideration to decide what you want them to know. Every message contains six components: context, sender-encoder, message, medium, receiver-decoder, and feedback. These components let the communicator know what will happen when displaying what needs to be said.
People also communicate with nonverbal messages. Nonverbal communications include: appearance, body language, and silence, time, and space. Appearance has great influence even before the message is seen or heard. The way a person looks or their surroundings affect what people listening might perceive. A person's body language, facial expression, posture and movement, smell and touch, voice, and sounds includes their body language. When relaying a message, receivers can encode the message by using the body language. Silence, time, and space also have a lot to do with communication. If no one responds to the message, it can create an awkward feeling. Timing is essential for the fact that nobody likes to wait. Being able to control some of these factors would help increase better and efficient communication.
Sometimes communication can be misinterpreted. Everybody is different and perceives messages differently. Miscommunication includes: convention of meaning, perceptions of reality, values, attitudes, and opinions. The communicator must always be precise in what they are trying to relay.
