Unit 2 Project: Create an Action Plan

Introduction: Goals are things that you desire or dream to achieve within your life. They can be thought of in time frames or terms. A short term goal usually means anytime within a year, intermediate-term means usually one to five years, and a long term goal is anything more than five years. They are important because studies have shown that people who set goals have greater self-confidence, achieve more out of life, and suffer less stress and anxiety because they have a structured plan for themselves. Goals can change over time because of different factors in your life, an example would be that you set a goal to go to college right after high school, but you become pregnant and have to change your goal to fit your new life. It is important to continue to monitor your goals so as you can accomplish them in the desired time frame. My mother influenced my decision to pursue an occupation that works with children because of my love for them.

1. Name of Short-Term Goal: Get a job with my local school district as a teacher's aid.

Why is this goal important to me? (Minimum 5 sentences)

This goal is important to me because if I achieve it I will be able to start getting experience in my desired occupation. I will also be able to support my growing family.

Plan of Action:

1. Step 1__Fill out an application and send in a resume.

Results Needed:

I will get an Interview

August 1st, 2008

2. Step 2 Call to check on status of application

Results Needed:

Speak with the person in charge of hiring and try to set up an interview.

3. Step 3_Interview

I will get the job I am trying for.

4. Step 4__Start Job

I start work for the school

2. Name of Intermediate-Term Goal: Graduate from Kaplan University with a high GPA.

Why is this goal important to me? (Minimum 5 sentences)

I want to be able to get a well- paying job in which to support my growing family. I know that if I receive a high GPA it will look good to future employers, thus helping to complete my long term goal as well.

Plan of Action:

1. Step 1_Study

Results Need:

Do well on exams, projects, and any other assignments, because I studied all needed information for classes. Trying not to get a grade below a B.

I will need to continue doing this from day one of school till graduation in June 2008.

2. Step 2 Do all assignments to best of my ability and always turn them in on time.

Results Needed:

I will never turn in work late or sloppy. I will try not to reseve a grade below a B on any assignments.

3. Step 3_Seek help as needed

Results Needed:

I won't feel bogged down with work because I don't understand something ; instead I will get help with finding the answers. This will also help me to succeed and get good grades.
