The book I chose to write about, is Crossfire by James Patterson. This book is the 17th of 23 books in the Alex Cross series. This book is an action-thriller. The intensity of it supported by the mind-twisting labyrinth of mystery makes this book an exceptional read. The heavy use of violence, swearing and gory detail to murder scenes ensure this read to be for readers 13/14 years and over.
The book moves fast with its intense, suspenseful plot. The book's main characters were protagonist Alex Cross; antagonist Kyle Craig Mitch and Denny. It had a great mix between intense and dramatic scenes, to in-depth, slow-paced love scenes, showing the relationship between Bree and Alex. The start of the book was extremely elusive. In Chapter 1, we did not know who Kyle was, his past and future actions. It's all a blur. The first point of the story where we get a glimpse of what's going on, is when Kyle says, "You've done a mighty good job with this surgery Doctor." He used plastic surgery to disguise as Agent Max Siegel. I like how James Patterson used a confusing but intriguing start to hook readers. This made it so, that the readers would find it almost impossible to get the characters confused. It makes the reader emotionally attached to the characters. The focus throughout the book is mainly directed at Kyle Craig and his evil plans. The start of the book hooks the reader with an awkward introduction to Kyle Craig (for me especially, since I had not read any of the previous Alex Cross books). One of the best things James Patterson has done with his book, is the unpredictability of the plot. The plot progresses at a more intense pace after the first few chapters. Use of dramatic, intense scenes: Makes the reader keep reading and never bores them. I especially loved the book because its a very realistic book. It uses a very realistic setting (Washington D.C)
The plot continues as Kyle Craig joining back into the police force and helping to try undermine this new criminal case of a serial killer involving many victims. Meanwhile all of this happens, two Afro-American teenagers named Mitch and Denny, are out to feed justice and righteousness into Washington by closing the gap between rich and poor, by killing the unjust, greedy people of Washington that everybody hates, (Like Donald Trump). Mitch and Denny work for a rich man, whom they both don't know personally, to execute this task of being hitmen. They live in a 'Suburban' or alternatively, a homeless shelter.
And in the heat of the moment, Alex Cross proposes to his girlfriend, but they cannot wed, because of this new case that arose. As the detective couple embark on this scarce case, Kyle Craig, or should I say, 'Max
