In the novel, Hope to Die written by James Patterson, Detective Alex Cross encounters his worst nightmare, his family had been kiddnapped. Alex discovered graphic pictures of each family member attached to his fridge. If that wasn't bad enough, bodies resembling each memeber of his family had turned up throughout the town; first his wife, then his son. Detective Cross begins to take on the investigation himself.
His investigation led him to an elderly man in a nursing home who just so happened to be a retired police officer who knew a little bit too much about the main suspect Alex Cross was faced with. The two of them worked together for days on end trying to piece together the past with the present in order to understand what exactly was going on.
As the investigation began to unfold, Detective Cross and the elderly man discovered that the suspect they were looking for was also known as a man from an unknown town who faked his own death. Everyone thought this guy was dead. He was going around to towns and killing families and no one knew who it was. Then it was later discovered that he was also known as an author named Marcus Sunday that wrote about "The Perfect Killer." The whole time Detective Cross is investigating Marcus, Marcus is plotting against Detective Cross to push him to his breaking point. Marcus's plan was to turn Detective Cross into "The Perfect Killer." When Detective Cross caught on to Marcus's plan, he hunted him down and began to dioscover the truth abouth what had really happened to his family.
I read this book in two days. I could not put it down for the life of me. Every page kept me on edge and i just kept flipping to the next page. I was constantly wanting to know what was going to happen next. This novel is a thriller and with every action of the scenes you felt like you were there. You experienced the adrenaline going through your veins and your heart race with every breath. I would get so into the book i started to get frustrated when the story would reveal information but the characters had no idea what was going on yet. James Patterson is probably one of my favorite writters.
