Database Management Systems

The current database system used at Fashion Furniture is an Oracle Database, which currently has two or more Oracle Databases that rest on one or more machines. These machines are connected to the Headquarters, sales, and manufacturing. The purpose of these connections is to have capabilities to track and receive orders and other manufacturing needs from what ever department the user is in. This also could be described as Database Links.

The purpose of having one or more databases system's that all connect to one or more machines is to ensure the ability to access an application or change data in a single area which can be helpful in controlling a lot of data or information coming in and out of a manufacturing company. Fashion Furniture is a large corporation that has a lot of product being shipped in and out and is required to have a strong database system. Most of the in formation that is stored is accessed by what is called links.

The current Database links can be used to excess a certain area or dictionary table for several different products or customer names. Most Database links are either public or private links, which means if the link is public than all database users will have excess to the databases where if private than only the user has complete access. Fashion Furniture is a family own business so most likely the links are private, and accessible to the one who created the link. The links are the path to a single
