This A.T. Cox painting comes from our at home collection of western societies and old-fashioned style of belongings. The authenticity coming from the untitled painting entitles all that the cowboy himself needs while on his lonesome yet satisfying ranch, his trusty horse and of course man's best friend. Cox illustrates happiness and satisfaction throughout the painting by the atmosphere and color.
The atmosphere is most definitely the key to the meaning of the whole entire painting. The unrelenting dawn brings forth the laid back manner of this painting. The accompanied cowboy seems to be comfortable in the coldness of his surroundings. Not only because of his warm, rugged skin by the fire but he is privileged to have such loyalty from his companions through the harsh winter. What seems like a big, fluffy pillow is the ground covered in perfect white snow with the occasional glimpse of uncovered ground serves as the pathway to their destination.
Depths and dimensions are what make this artistic piece of work so compelling and comforting. The Western Culture from the 1800's seems to be such a mystic time which is somehow fun to imagine. At a time when there were no cars, roads, and or any other transportation other than your trusty horse and as depicted in this piece of art a border collie for company in front of a small fire of warmth. It transports you to a time of peace and a solitary feeling that brings relaxation and happiness to being.
The combination of yellow, red-orange, and grey for upcoming dawn gives the freedom of living in such a beautiful environment. As mentioned earlier the perfect white snow resembles the purity and innocence of the setting as the horse standing in harmony, not security. The deep brown skin engraved into the horses amplified muscles are relaxed knowing that peace overcomes dreadfulness of the cold, unforgiving weather.
Color, mood, and atmosphere are all essential keys
