ABSTRACT

A clearance is a certificate giving a student the permission to graduate from an instituition. Final year students who have met all academic requirements to graduate must go through a clearance process before they are allowed to graduate from the University. The clearance process involves the Student’s academic department, Computer Lab, Electronics Lab, Society, Faculty, Finance office, Students Affairs, Admissions ESS and Registry. A prospective graduant is only allowed to graduate only if he/she has completed the clearance process. In most institutions the clearance process is done manually. The overall aim of this project was to design and implement a web based student’s clearance system using PHP and MySQL as the programming language and the database respectively, before the final implementation of the system, both unit testing and interface testing were carried out. The results achieved showed that the system is viable and all functional requirements were met. The project scope is restricted to only Regent University College of Science and Technology (RUCST). The system was fully implemented using the developmental tools mentioned and is found to be more efficient and effective than the traditional method of student’s clearance, this system should be fully integrated into the University’s student management process.
