Thousands of drunk drivers are on the street each year

Imaging going out with your friends to party after a long day of work, and everybody is drinking. Everybody's laughing and having a ball of a time, you start to get tipsy and before you know it you enter a place not of this earth, but a relaxed one where judgement is no more a key word. You grab yours keys and decide to go and pick up a friend still in a world where nothing can go wrong. But then a thought of truth and guidance appears, and then everything hurries to darkness.

Alcohol consumption is a very common practice among teens and adults. There are many reasons why people drink, including pressure from peers, temptation, depression and to make people feel better in a social setting. Tradition in certain cultures also contribute to why people consume alcohol.

Driving intoxicated is a serious problem of todays society. Alcohol is considered to be a drug which can make anyone inept to make judgement, and that can lead to them thinking they are alright to drive. A common practice used is a designated driver. This does not always work since the person may still think they can have a few drinks. This person may think they are alright to drive because they did not drink as much, but did drink enough to surpass the legal driving limit.

Thousands of drunk drivers are on the street each year. Driving intoxicated does not only hurt the one who were drinking, but makes it dangerous for other drivers around them. When driving drunk, it is harder to make the same decisions as when driving sober, causing accidents. Many people people are hurt and killed each year causing suffering and pain to many families.

Getting caught driving intoxicated never comes to mind when getting in the car ; but it does happen in many cases. When getting pulled over and caught for drunk driving, a DUI (driving under influence)
