EFFECTS OF COMPUTER USAGE ON CHILDREN

Computers can be considered as a useful device or a threat for children. With the tecnological development and the internet becoming very common, computers seem to play a crucial role in our daily lives. In modern societies, computers are one of the main household items, and children grow up by using computers daily. Some people believe computers are beneficial for children, while many others disagree.

First of all, computers can be very useful for children in order to improve their grades. A computer with internet access is an ideal assistant for children. They can use it to research among huge amount of information on internet. It is something like having your own library at home. They can organize this information and complete their assignments practically by using their computers. Children can also store all of their works on it. Moreover, computers can be used for practising and studying for the exams. These are not the only way for children to use computers beneficially.

Apart from using them for education, computers are handy devices for children in terms of entertainment and communication. Children can entertain themselves with computers by listening music, watching movies, or playing video games. Also, computers provide access to social networking sites, so they can be used for communication by children. Computers have many advantages if they are utilized consciously.

On the other hand, excessive use of computers can cause major health problems on children. Concentrating on computer screen for too long harms children’s eyes and causes visual disorders. Spending too much time by sitting at the computer with almost no physical activity can cause back pain, and it can also lead to obesity. Unfortunately, health problems are not the only danger for children.
