Reasons Not to Have Plastic Surgery
"In America, most people spend more time finding the right pair of shoes than they do finding a cosmetic surgeon," according to Doctor Rod Rohrich. Plastic surgery is serious and just as with any operation, surgical procedures carry risks. With the increasing popularity of plastic surgery combined with reality shows, it could be easy for the general public to overlook the serious nature of elective cosmetic surgical procedures. Even at the highest level of care, every surgery has risks as well as benefits. The three main reasons for not having plastic surgery are death, excessive use of plastic surgery, and difficulty in finding certified doctors.
The first reason a person should not have plastic surgery is the high risk of death occurring during surgery. Death can occur many different ways during surgery and postoperatively. One such way could be caused by the anesthesia administered to the patient. Anesthesia causes hypotension, vomiting and malignant hypertension. Hypotension is when the patient does not receive enough oxygen to the brain, therefore, making the patient brain dead. Vomiting can cause death by filling the lungs and creating phenomena which could also lead to death. Malignant Hypertension can also cause death. The patient may not receive enough oxygen during surgery which leads to hypoxia and, therefore, contributes to brain damage or death. Swelling due to manipulation of tissue especially in the throat area will cause the trachea to close which leads to hypoxia. Another cause of death could be made by the doctor accidentally cutting an artery or nicking a vital organ. Many times a patient's body cannot handle the stress that

surgery puts on the body and therefore may have die from a heart attack. Recently, a seventeen year old died from cosmetic surgery. Doctor Allen Rosen stated "It was a very routine procedure. Even in the best of hands things are sometimes out of our control."
Another reason plastic surgery is not always the best course of action to take is the dangers of never being satisfied. According to Doctor Rohrich, "cosmetic surgery can help produce the results people don't want," which could lead to surgery after surgery. For example, Marie Osmond was talked about after her brow lift that left her surprised. The problem with never being satisfied lies deeper than the skin. It becomes wanting perfection. In our culture having the perfect eyes, mouth, bust and thighs is worshiped plastic surgery make being perfect possible. Being this obsessed breeds financial, marriage and self-esteem problems. Financial problems arise from addiction of plastic surgery when some cannot get that perfect look and keep going back and back for more, which leaves some without
