1. What are the ethical conflicts in the case?
The Clooney Brothers, Alder and Jim, are from a family known for never compromising integrity for wealth. Though they were brought up to these ideals, the brothers still made a terrible mistake of exchanging their principles for fortune. Alder is an intelligent man, however used it for the wrong reasons spoiling his integrity by organizing made up facts about his business just to avoid complying to the law. From devising ghost employees to paying his employees cash from unrecorded cash receipts in their books, the brothers did pay up their fallacious acts by a public apology.
2. What did you learn from the case?
A person with intellectual capability and brilliance don't really entail having ethics, in spite being raised in an environment of morals. Sometimes, it even develops mischief in carrying out his work, knowing he has the means to get away from it. Still, the case reminded me that the skills and knowledge that I get and I will obtain while studying should be put to good use, conscious of the consequences I will be having when I deviate from doing what's right. Besides, the case also prompted me to even have more respect to my parents as its not only my name that's going to be tainted but also my family's.
