I. Halloween
Halloween is just around the corner. With less than a month to go, it's time to get going on those costumes and stock up on candy. Repeating as our host will be Helen Lapointe, Ken Stransky, their son Yuri and Janis Tunn, an exchange student from Latvia. The traditional start will be at the island on Carriage and East Miller Way at 5:30pm (new time). The fire truck will lead everyone to Helen and Ken's home for pizza, salad, beer and soda.
II. Neighborhood Directory
Walter Oehrlein, Jill Slocum, Sue Fine and highly trained, unpaid staff have been working around the clock seven days a week to complete the updated directory for distribution this October. Take a look for all the new info.
III. United Homeowners Assoc.
The UHOA cancelled their Sept. 15th meeting, but they still plan on televising the October 20th meeting, which will be open to the public. If you want more information on this event, contact Richard Moxley at 248-646-0468.
IV. Township studies change to city
An article in the August 4 edition of the Community Free Press described Bloomfield Township's interest in transforming from a municipality into a city. A city would be able to avoid future annexations, and cities normally levy higher taxes if needed. The township supervisor said the board will move cautiously on this topic, and the possibility of a change is not likely. In the past 25 years, only 2 townships in Oakland County have become cities: Auburn Hills and Pontiac. Currently, our township boasts a population of 44,000 persons in 17,000 homes spread over 25 square miles.
