Food Inc.
In this documentary known as Food Inc. we learned a lot about how genetically modified and processed our food is and how little we know about it. We were shown many examples of farmers who are working for these huge industries and how poorly the animals are treated and the people as well. We are also shown how strict these industries are in the ways they want things to be done and they force the farmers to do their ways or they terminate their contracts with them. The several farmers they interview in this do not say it directly but you can tell that they do not agree with what these industries are making them do. The farmers do not necessarily want to do this, but they don’t have much of a choice if they want to make a living for themselves.
There is one farmer in this documentary though that does not have anything to do with these large industries and he just does the right thing. He feeds his animals what they should be fed with no added growth hormones and he does not keep them in any type of confined area. This is how I believe farmers should farm because the other way is not real farming, all it is is business. At the end of this documentary one of the farmers that was interviewed tells us that he does not think that the way our food is being made is right and we need to speak up about it. He says to us that all the other farmers would gladly go back to originals ways but they cannot do so unless we speak up. In conclusion, if we want our food to be made right and safe we need to speak up and be heard.
