Four Fuctions Of Management

I have managed a furniture store for two years and I have gain enough experience to keep my employees as a team and meet the goals required. It was very hard, because I had to learn the hard way and wished I had more understanding on how to work both effectively and efficiently. In order to finish school I recently changed jobs and now work for Washington Mutual Bank,. I' am very pleased with the company and with the knowledge I University of Phoenix it will help me become a better manager. I hold a teller position at the time but will eventually move up and become a manager with a business administration degree. There are four functions of management that I must deliver to my workplace in order to became an effective and efficient asset to the company.
The first function to deliver in a workplace is planning, which is the management function of systematically making decisions about the goals and activities that an individual, a group, a work unit, or the overall organization will pursue in the future. Planning is very important function because it will specify the goals that need to be achieved and making a decision in advance and take the appropriate action needed to meet the goals required. Planning can include preparing or setting the stage for action and for major achievements. It can also mean to determine the resources needed to achieve the organizations goals, analyzing current situation at the same time anticipating the future. If the function planning is implemented in the workplace by all managers, the results will indeed be positive.

The second function to be delivered in the work place is Organizing, which is a management function of assembling and coordination human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals. Organizing in the workplace definitely needs to be implemented to be able to keep everyone working as a team and making sure to use any resource of organization in order to meet the company goals. Some of the activities behind organizing are giving all the employees a specific job responsibility, make groups if needed to accomplish task, and creating conditions so that people and things can work together to achieve maximum success. Effective managers who exercise organizing will build a dynamic organization by using new forms of organization and viewing the people as perhaps their most valuable resource.
The third function that is important in an organization is Leading which is the management function at involves the managers efforts to stimulate high performance by employees. Leading takes place in teams, divisions, departments as well as at the top of huge organizations. Leading involve daily contact with people, helping to guide and inspire the employees toward achieving team and organizational goals.
