It is vital that you know who the real monster in the Frankenstein book, Victor Frankenstein is the number one contender for this position. He creates a monster, but who knows if the actual monster he created is the true monster in this story. In later chapters the true monster is revealed, Victor Frankenstein takes fault for the deaths of Justine, William, and Henry even though he wasn’t the actual cause of their death. Although the monster was created by Victor, he is still horrid and disgusted by how his monsters look and abandons his creation because of his unpleasant demeanor. Victor didn’t accept the monster and decided to avoid coming into contact with the monster, woefully the monster later commits an evil act and kills Justine and others throughout the story. The monster only wanted to live life normally, he wanted to be accepted by his creator, and to love another creature. In the story, it described how Frankenstein’s monster requested from Victor to create another companion and in return, they’d both move into the forest and live together. Victor promises and later go back to his promise and this infuriated the monster. In addition, to Victor abandoning the monster he broke a promise to his own creation, this broken promise damaged the monster even more than he was before and he sought revenge on the Victor. All fingers point to Victor as being a true monster because of his actions and decision throughout the story, however Victor does some amiable acts which point the finger back at his creature.

Victor's actions throughout the novel says a plethora of things about his characters, the words he uses, the actions he does, and the his reputation describes his character in the novel, Victors had descriptions on different parts of the novel of how completely disgusted he was with his creation, and didn’t care if his words wounded his creation. Victor takes a negative view of his creation, by describing his creation as a “Demoniacal corpse” (59) and a “Depraved wretch” (78), these particular words describe one third of his character and how he feels about his creation. Victor spends most of the novel trying to defeat his monster, he decides to abandon his creation rather than accepting him. Throughout the novel Victor has tried to destroy his own creation, but wasn’t very successful in his attempts of doing so, and because the monster was born with human character traits he seeks revenge on Victor for abandoning him. Victor was loved by everyone except his own creation because what he has done to his monster, he was a soon to be husband, a son, and a amazing friend. Victor began to gain a reputation as a scientist and innovator among his professors and students began to like Victor as a person while he was at college in Ingolstadt.
