Q. Can you please tell me the importance of planning and how it relates to a
Manager in your position?
A. Planning is extremely vital to the successful implementation of anything in
Business. From the conception of the business to any project or task you undertake as you progress. It clearly defines roles and responsibilities, terms and conditions, marketing, pricing and focus in every aspect of the job. It provides direction for every department and individual within that department as well as any strategy to secure growth for the business.
Without appropriate planning the business would lack direction and would be chaotic. It would certainly be apparent to any client you dealt with and make it impossible to function successfully as a business for any length of time.
Q. What role does organizing play in the success of the business?
A. Organizing ties directly to planning. Once the plan is in place organizing the
order of things, the flow of the plan and the function of each piece of it is
what makes the plan work. Picture it as if the plan is a jigsaw puzzle. You
open the box and dump all of the pieces on the table. There it is but, it really
doesn't give you a clear picture until you organize all of the pieces.
Q. Does influence or influencing help you as a manager?
A. It defines what a manager is! The ability to influence an individual, business,
Client or situation is managing it. The difference between management styles
is how you manage or influence that particular individual or situation. From
production to sales running a business is all about influencing the people you
work with and work for.
