Topic: Game Changer – Renewable Energy
Energy is one of the necessities of human beings nowadays, however, with the over-exploitation
Development of Renewable energy is game changing to the world because it redefined energy generation and, especially, in terms of environmental impacts and geographical factors. The procedures of producing electricity by renewable energy sources might have completely changed people’s mindset on energy generation. According to Sandry (2013), renewable energy sources surpass traditional ones as they were much cleaner alternative forms of energy. Comparing coal combustion with solar energy, the former generates coal dust and drainage from mining and bulky emission of pollutants which were proofed to be factors contributing to global warming, air and river pollutions as well as acid rain and respiratory illness. However, renewable energy are extracted from clean and non-limiting sources like sunshine which only creates small amount of harmful by- products or even none. Besides, the modern technology enables renewable energy generation sites to be installed without poses huge irreversible damage to nature environment which was in great contrast with the mountaintop removal coal mining. With generating the same amount of energy to cope with the world demand, renewable energy is a game changer as its provision of energy was more environmental friendly and sustainable.
The success and importance these alternative forms of energy was mainly due of its sustainability, cost effectiveness and the sky-rocketing world population associated with increasing demand of energy. Renewable energy sources were sustainable while traditional ones were not. This meant that there would be one day that all fossil fuels and oils were fully depleted and consequently, energy sources with sustainability stood out from the crowd. Renewable energy was not popular decades ago as technology was not advanced enough and the setup cost was expected to be extraordinarily high. Yet, when energy demand increased alarmingly, people paid more attention towards alternative forms of energy and realized that renewable energy was not barely affordable. Its importance and advantages attracted more and more investments which accelerated research and development on it. As a result, renewable energy generation was not only limited in large scale power plant, but also used by individuals like installing solar panels on their roof top (Laura Paddison, 2014). The global demand and advantages of these energy sources made it irresistible to human beings and pave the way of it the become a game changer in the modern society.
