Gay marriage
What is it that we are really afraid of? Do you think we won’t be able to continue to populate the world? I could never understand why people are so against gay marriage. It’s as if it affects their lives personally. Does it? How would two people of the same sex signing papers stating that they are together affect our lives? Family Research Council states “The primary purpose that marriage serves is to secure a mother and father for each child who is born into a society.” It sounds like the only reason we have get marriage is to keep creating life. We don’t marry to be in love, just to keep this planet populated I guess. I understand that a man and a man cannot make a child but that doesn’t mean that cannot raise one. There are plenty other ways that gays can still have children and we still have the world populated the same way. We are so afraid of not being able to procreate but here we have LGBTQ youth community is four times more likely to commit suicide then their straight peers. Also LGBTQ youth that come from high rejected households are 8.4 times more likely to commit suicide. We are worried about not being able to continue to populate but here we are allowing our ignorance to kill of the youth and adults that are already here. So what is that you’re really scared of?
People are scared at the idea of same-sex marriages being publicized because they are afraid that their kids will become gay from being exposed to it. Kids are exposed to a lot at all age i.e. drugs, sex, homosexuality, etc. Each person takes their own path in life sooner or later no matter what they are exposed to or not. National Center on Addiction and Drug Abuse at Columbia University surveys that

“About 17% of American high school student’s drink, smoke, or use drugs during the day. With that being said influence is everywhere it can come from advertisement or home activities. But it can also just come from a natural curiosity inside. We all were kids once some kids are curious to how worms taste and don’t need to see someone do it to make them want to. Curiosity is part of human nature, people try to say that homosexuality is unnatural then everything that comes from a curious moment is also unnatural.
The best lesion I was taught in high school wasn’t by a teacher, it was by my principal. One day I had an altercation with another student that was bullying me. Telling rumors to others about my life. He said to her “Carly why does it matter to you what she does in her life? What she eats won’t make you shit!” No matter how hard we try to stop someone from being themselves, doing what they would like to in life, or marrying whoever they wanted to it still has no effect on our lives. It is their life. We as people have to realize we do not control anyone’s lives but our own. With that new sense of understanding we should realize no matter what people tried to do you’ll never stop gays from being together so what does it make a difference if they get papers saying they are in union? By someone living out their life the way they would like to will never influence you enough to choose the same path and I feel as we continue to grow we should understand that.
