1. Do you think Han Solar’s green strategy will increase shareholder returns? List some other possible impacts of sustainability efforts.
I believe that Han Solar’s green strategy will increase the shareholder returns by increasing the company’s profits. Han Solar’s profits had dropped in the recent past mainly because of the company’s lack of focus on environment and green initiatives. With an increase in green awareness among the consumers, Han Solar’s green strategy will improve its brand image thereby increasing sale and profits.
Apart from the environmental impacts (reducing the emission of GHG) of sustainability efforts, there are economic and social impacts. For example, a process change (as part of sustainability efforts) in one area of the supply chain might lead to an increase in efficiency of the entire manufacturing process thereby reducing costs and increasing profits. Social impacts might include improved employee health and safety as a result of reduced exposure to harmful raw materials that are no longer used as part of sustainability efforts. This might also increase employee satisfaction and retention rates.
2. What is the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process?
The carbon footprint in grams and Kgs per panel for each location assuming that the entire manufacturing process takes place at the same location is given below:
