Henry Aaron, better know as Hank Aaron was a professional baseball player for 23 years, from 1954-1976 he was one of the most feared hitters in the game. He was one of the first black MVP's when he was voted it in 1957, also he was the first player to reach 3,000 hits and 500 home runs, and he still holds multiple career records that still stand today such as, most runs batted in (2,297), most extra base hits (1,477), most total bases (6,856), most seasons with 30 or more home runs (15), most seasons with 20 or more home runs (20), and played in a record 24 All-Star games. By far his most famous record of them all, most career home runs with 755 home runs he is currently 21 home runs ahead of the man with the second most (Barry Bonds*, 734). After breaking the record Aaron received masses of media attention and he was recognized as a super star, and an American hero by many. Unfortunately, there were some people who thought otherwise of the Home Run King, Aaron received numerous hate letters which included death threats to him and his family, but Hank never let that phase him in a negative way instead he used that as motivation.

When Hank broke the home run record it made people from the United States (especially the deep south since he played in Atlanta) realize you didn't have to be white to accomplish something great, and helped pave a road for African-American athletes everywhere to do great things and not get criticized for it like he did.
