This is the third time this semester you have gotten yourself a failing grade! How will you explain this one to your parents? How do you plan to dodge your friends at lunch? What will your teacher think of you now? What will this do for your future?

How many times has this happened to you? Millions of questions are running through your head and you want the world to just go away. Need Help? You are reading it right now!

NUMBER 1: DON'T PANIC

Control yourself. When stress occurs adrenaline and cortisol hormones are released into the blood stream. They cause the heart and breathing rate to increase. Your blood pressure and metabolism increases as well. Blood vessels open wider and let more blood flow to the large muscle groups, leaving your muscles alert. Your pupils dilate and improve your vision. Your liver releases stored glucose to increase the body's energy. Extra sweat is given off to cool you down. You must calm these things down and take control. Learn to relax.

Number 2: Think

You control your life. Think about ways you can prevent this next time. What did you do wrong? Did you get good night's sleep? Did you eat properly? Did you exercise normally? Solving these little problems will give you a better grip on your life. Thinking and taking care of little things will give you more time for the big things like these tests and exams. Stop mourning over the last test and focus on passing the next one.

Number 3: Be Realistic

Do not be afraid of your friends, family, and teachers. They are not there to make fun of you. They want to help. Tell them your problems and let them help you. They are your greatest source of support and help.

Number 4: Schedule

Give yourself plenty of time to study and relax. It is not necessary to cram. Over scheduling can cause an overload of stress. This does not only apply to tests. Trying to move into a new house, working out at the YMCA, and watering the plants can't all be done by 4:00.

Number 5: Study and Pass

Once you have talked to your family, friends, and teacher, scheduled your time, and have calmed down, study and pass. Remember to keep a calm mind and attitude toward the test. Think positive
