In this, highly unscientific paper, I will tell something about the M.O. of internet scamsters. Not the usual stuff, you can read everywhere, but a bit of inside information. I once came into a scamsters maibox, and in this way I found out. First of all, not surprisingly, the same person or persons, have a wide variety of scams, that they run simultaneously. I could see that very easily, by looking in the different folders. They use a multitude of different mailadresses, but it is noteworthy, that the same passwords are used for different mailboxes, most likely to make it easier to keep track. In this way, when you have entered one box, you can basically rip up a network of adresses, because by googling one adress, you can find connected mailboxes described on different antiscamsites. As these boxes contain new adresses, it becomes quite a task to keep track. By also using forgotten password services I managed to get into 6 mailboxes, but unfortunately, I had alarmed the scamster, so he had been deleting stuff in some of them. The contents were as follows: correspondence between scamster and potential victims, fake documents and so on. A hole bunch of new mail-adresses for spamming. An notably, a large amount of mail in the garbage can..the success rate seems to be rather small, probable only few percent, but that is enough if you send out thousands of mails.
You shold not expect to find anything like a smoking gun in these mailboxes, it is all fake names and adresses.
