Attachment Disorder
One of the closest bonds I have is with my mother. My mother was there from the get go, she has never let me down and she has always loved me unconditionally no matter what the circumstances. A mothers job is to love and nurture your child, to pick them up when they are down, to teach them new things, encourage them each and every day to be the best person they can be. Those are all of the things my mother has done for me since the day I was born. She is my rock, my shoulder to cry on, my person I can comfy too, and most of my entire comfort zone. Without the bond I have with my mother I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
Attachment disorder is a disorder that conquers their mood, behavior, and social relationships. Children who don’t get that special bond with their mother or their guardian are likely to have attachment disorder. This Disorder starts out at an early age and gets worse as the child grows older, it makes it difficult to have a relationship with peers, and its hard for them to manage their behavior, they tend to lash out and do things that could hurt themselves or others around them.
One way you can tell if a child had Attachment disorder or is starting to obtain attachment disorder, is if they child does not trust the parents, or guardian. These kids don’t feel like their parents can be there for them for whatever they need. Children, who loose a parent, are often prone to getting attachment disorder because that is all they have ever known throughout the pregnancy. That was their source of life, and without their mother they are lost. To these kids, their mother is all they have ever known. Mothers often face sickness or injury through out pregnancy, which leads the mother to stay in the hospital for a significant amount of time, and without that time for the mother to bond with the child the child often has to learn to go on without them. Then you have abusive parents, when watching that video in class where the little girl, and her brother weren’t treated properly as children it left them feeling unsafe, and untrustworthy to the new caregivers that they were sent with. The little girl felt like lashing out on her brother every night, wanting to kill him. All of this due to the lack of attention, and bonding with the children at a young age.
As of right now I am attending school for Early Childhood education, and I will be working with young kids each and every day. As a teacher it is the law to report anything I would classify as abuse. Some red flags for me would be If the child came to school with marks on their body, or if the child was always playing by themselves when it was time for recess. If the child is always getting into fights, or threating to cause harm to the other students or staff that would be a major red flag that something isn’t right with the child. If the child does not have the proper care they will often lash out, or grow up to quickly. By growing up to quickly I mean, saying things kids shouldn’t say, or being exposed to things kids their age shouldn’t be exposed too. If any of these things were to occur, or I was to think something wrong was going on in the house hold I would have to report it to the principle, or someone higher up, the police, and or SRS.
