Hybrid Grains

A new wheat bread hybrid sounds grainy to me. I could see this bread realistically being manufactured some day. I recognize the demand curve on the product shifting downward for a while due to being a new product. People in general maybe scared at first of the ideas. During this time consumers are simply trying out the bread. This is when we would see the older ladies in the counter isles of (Wal-Mart etc) stores asking if we would like free samples and handing out various coupons on the bread and alternate hybrid products. Depending on how we the consumers view the new bread (taste-wise, texture, freshness) determines the general outcome of the hybrid. If the hybrid does not meet the ideal of wheat bread already established then the demand curve for the original wheat bread will increase. But if the consumer enjoys the bread and accepts the new characteristics of the bread the original wheat bread demand will decrease.

The development of this hybrid bread should not affect the prices of wheat. In some aspects farmers are doing better with the original wheat costs. The only was for consumers to be affected is by their choice of product not by the costs. The farmers are generally a major leveling factor when it comes to crops costs. Plus today's farmers usually focus on more than just one crop or product to produce.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about price ceilings and price floors other than what is in the text, are every day medications. Sometimes in our lives we all need medications, whether it is a daily multivitamin or prescription medication. Medicines have a set minimum price and/or maximum price. The minimum price would be to meet all the requirements and cost from the manufacturer, store, and the consumer. The ideal of this pricing is
